Lilac Fawn French Bulldog
Warm fawn body with silvery-lilac champagne mask and shading. Learn the d/d + co/co + ay/ay genotype.
What Makes a Lilac Fawn Frenchie Special
The Lilac Fawn French Bulldog combines three loci into a warm, elegant package. The ay/ay (or ay/at) genotype at the A-locus produces a warm fawn/tan coloration over the entire body, similar to a standard fawn Frenchie.
Then the d/d genotype at the D-locus dilutes the pigment, and the co/co genotype at the Co-locus warms that dilution into a silvery-lilac champagne shade. The result is a dog with a warm fawn body but cool champagne-lilac facial features — a softer, more ethereal look than Blue Fawn.
Lilac Fawn is rarer than Blue Fawn because it requires two additional recessive alleles (co/co on top of d/d). Breeders must DNA test for both the D-locus and Co-locus to produce this combination.
The Lilac Fawn Genotype
D-Locus: Dilute
Required: d/d
Two copies of the dilute allele create the blue-gray base that cocoa then warms into lilac.
Co-Locus: Cocoa
Required: co/co
The cocoa gene warms the blue-gray dilute into the distinctive silvery-lilac champagne shade.
A-Locus: Fawn
Required: ay/ay or ay/at
The fawn allele produces warm tan coloration over the entire body, with the lilac limited to the mask and shading.

Lilac Fawn Frenchie FAQ
What is a Lilac Fawn French Bulldog?
A Lilac Fawn French Bulldog has a warm fawn/tan body color with a silvery-lilac mask and lilac shading. The fawn comes from the A-locus (ay/ay or ay/at), and the lilac comes from d/d (dilute) + co/co (cocoa). This creates a warm tan body with cool champagne-lilac facial features.
What is the genotype of a Lilac Fawn Frenchie?
The genotype is d/d + co/co + ay/ay (or ay/at). The dog must be homozygous recessive for both dilute (d/d) and cocoa (co/co), AND carry at least one fawn allele (ay) at the A-locus. Without ay, the dog would express as Lilac and Tan instead.
How is Lilac Fawn different from Blue Fawn?
Blue Fawn is d/d + ay/ay — a warm fawn body with a blue-gray mask. Lilac Fawn adds co/co (cocoa), which warms and lightens the blue-gray into a distinctive silvery-lilac champagne shade. The body looks similar (warm fawn), but the facial mask is noticeably different — lilac is lighter and more champagne-toned than blue.
How is Lilac Fawn different from Lilac and Tan?
Lilac and Tan has a lilac body with sharp tan point markings (at/at or at/a). Lilac Fawn has fawn coloration over the entire body with a lilac mask and shading (ay/ay or ay/at). Lilac Fawn looks more uniformly warm, while Lilac and Tan has the classic pointed contrast.
How much does a Lilac Fawn Frenchie cost?
Lilac Fawn French Bulldogs typically range from $8,000 to $14,000 for pet quality. Premium specimens with rich fawn color, clear lilac mask, and clean structure can reach $14,000–$22,000. The triple-locus requirement places this in the mid-to-high value range.
What colors can two Lilac Fawn parents produce?
If both parents are d/d co/co ay/ay, all puppies will be Lilac Fawn. If either parent carries at (ay/at), some puppies may be Lilac and Tan. If either parent carries b/b, e/e, or M/m, the litter could include Isabella Fawn, Platinum, or Lilac Merle puppies.
